Short description of your research area

I work in a research area that was once called “molecular electronics” and was very focussed on understanding how charge and heat move through molecules with a view to designing molecular-scale electrical components. Today, the field is broader and the fundamental understanding we gain from single molecules studies of charge and heat transport is applied more broadly across chemistry and material science. In my group, we use theoretical methods with a goal of understanding chemical trends, and a particular focus on quantum interference effects in molecules.
