Ole H Petersen CBE FRS is Professor of Bioscience at Cardiff University and Vice-President of Academia Europaea. He has chaired the European Research Council’s Starting Grant Panel for Physiology, Pathophysiology and Endocrinology and been Chair of the Biological Sciences Panel for the UK Government’s Research Excellence Framework 2014. He is a Fellow, and former Vice-President, of the Royal Society and Member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences & Letters and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has received the American Physiological Society’s Cannon Award, the NOVO Nordisk Foundation’s Jacobaeus Prize, Academia Europaea’s Gold Medal and most recently (2022) the Palade Prize from the International Association of Pancreatology.
